Hi, I am new to the forum. I have received a tentative diagnosis but meeting consultant on Friday to clarify things and discuss a treatment plan. I feel out on a limb and left alone with little information so it has been a worrying time. I have no idea of the type of cancer, or the treatment I may undergo. I hope to have this cleared up on Friday! I am hopeful that support from this group will help me.

  • Hi  and a warm welcome to the Online Community. Although I have a different cancer to you, I've been in the same position feeling I'd not been given information.

As you've written in your Bio, your Consultant's now probably met with his MDT (Multi Discipline Team - Surgeons, Oncologists, Anaesthetists, CNS's) so at your meeting tomorrow (Friday) he will explain fully your diagnosis and your treatment plan. (Remember your notebook - no-one remembers what they're told. To find information covering diagnosis, treatments and pages covering most types of cancers can be found on our Online Information and Support Section

You've joined a supportive forum so I'm sure someone will be along soon to welcome you.

Hi, yes, I have to have thyroid removed but diagnosis not confirmed until then. Thanks for your support.

  • Are they taking the whole lot, or just half?
Once you know the plan, feel free to ask LOTS of questions (or just one or two if you don't have lots). We've all been there - at least those of us who've had it - and we know how you're feeling about the unknown. Pop by anytime. We're not all here all the time, so sorry if it takes a while to get back to you, but I should get alerts when you post again and I hope I won't miss it.

    Best wishes

Hi! I’m on the same boat. It’s a month I’ve known of my thyroid cancer and I’ve been told I am “lucky” it’s the good type which I should be greatful but still feel the stress of the “C” word!
anyways just wanted to say you’re not alone and can chat to compare notes.
