Any advice accepted gratefully. Due my rai treatment next month, but have a few questions about after discharge from hospital. Wife will be at home too. When at home what about sitting on settee watching tv for instance , what do i need to wipe down surface of seat ? The remote? Do I need change bedsheets for their 2 washes daily or at end of isolation?  Dishes etc.? Do I wash down shower every day? Silly wee things that are needed to be asked and answered

Thanks in advance

  • Follow the guidance on diet before your RAI. When in hospital drink lots, urinate often and shower at least twice per day to help the radiation leave your body. At home I kept 6 feet away from my wife during the isolation period and did not have any contact with young children or pregnant women during the period, We slept in separate beds and I changed the sheets every few days. I did not prepare meals for my wife and we did not share plates, cutlery or towels. I left the remote control with my wife. You should sit down to use the toilet and clean the shower after each use as showering and urinating are the two main ways radiation will quickly leave your body. The nurses have heard very question so just ask and get comfortable. Hospital isolation is boring so take a book or magazine and your favourite squash or similar to keep you drinking.. Good luck
