Hi, it’s been a while…
I haven’t had a stimulated test for 4 years, I have just had my unstimulated results at 0.5. Previously test was undetectable however before that I have been 0.9, 0.2 0.4 and so on so It does fluctuate. However my consultant has asked that I have a stimulated test as I haven’t had one for 4 years but said he was not concerned… should I be worried? How often do you have stimulated tests? I feel so worried that he thinks something is wrong and not telling me.
Sorry if you got an alert with no content. This site drives me insane some days.
If the doc isn't concerned, you should not be worried. He's probably just following local protocol on frequency.
I've only had stimulated Tg done once, over 10 years ago. It's very likely that in that time standard expectations and protocols may have changed. I would assume the doc is just being careful and seeking to reassure you by redoing the test.
Best wishes
Barbara

Thanks so much.
I still have such extreme health anxiety since diagnosis 5.5 years ago.
That’s reassuring…
he said my levels are stable for me and his not concerned, he said I had an ultrasound a year ago so he thinks it’s a good time to do a stimulated test.
Can I ask how often you have your bloods done? Mine have moved to yearly however at diagnosis they told me it would be every six months for life…
I'm probably the worst person to ask that as I've pretty much managed my own follow up with the support of my GP surgery. I had my treatment privately and neither my surgeon nor oncologist (who is now retired) ever chased me for appointments - I just made them as and when.
For my own peace of mind, I arrange a blood test at the GP roughly twice a year. Thyroid function plus thyroglobulin and antibodies, Vit D and anything else the GP fancies throwing in for good measure.
If you are getting blood tests through the hospital, you can always ask your GP to do them instead or as well. I know I'm lucky to have a fantastic surgery and some very understanding doctors, but not everybody gets that level of support.
Best wishes
Barbara

Hello Honeylove ,
I'm in a somewhat similar situation, full post here Fluctuating Tg levels .
Long story short: unstimulated thyroglobulin levels low (<= 0.6 with 0.6 highest so far, at the latest checkup), the oncologist is not concerned but I'm very anxious.
I only had 1 stimulated test and the thyroglobulin was also in that case 0.6.
I know this post is 2 years old but since you were in the same situation, I was wondering how you're getting on on and what the stimulated test showed.
Thank you!
