aches and pains

Firstly, I have to point out that you never had two thyroids. There's only one thyroid but it has two lobes. 

The pain you describe might be related to your thyroxine dose but it could also be a lack of Vitamin D. It's very typical for people to find their Vit D levels are very low and to need to take supplements.

What you describe is how I felt a few years after thyroidectomy - bone and muscle aches. Please describe it to your GP and ask for a Vit D blood test.

I have had blood tests in the past and it showed that I had a vit D deficiency, they put me on a course of vit D and folic acid for a couple of months and then when it had levelled up take me off it. But I will mention it tomorrow when I'm in with the nurse. Sorry I meant to say that I had both lobes removed only one side and the middle piece was cancerous left lobe was fine.

Have you had it tested since? I won't be at all surprised if it's low again. 

I was very low and have been on supplementation ever since. That's several years.

Hi Barbara from the last time I was talking to you I have been having bloods done and redone because they made a mess of the first lot but eventually got a result that I am very low on Vit D, so now on a course of medication. Hopefully I will be pain free in a few weeks. 

That's fantastic. It's always a good thing to know a cause and to be able to fix the problem. Thank you so much for letting me know. 

If they try to take you off again, I would suggest to challenge that. My GP won't prescribe maintenance doses of Vit D but I buy a year's worth at a time from a certain wall known website named after a South American river (if you know what I mean). It costs me about £10 a year.

I get my Vit D tested approximately twice a year when I have my Thyroglobulin and TFT done.
