Hi there! Hope everyone is doing ok on her! On holiday and it’s been a great week and has done me the world of good. I am on a course with my work and was apprehensive about going as it’s been only 6 weeks since my TT. I have spoken a lot more than usual and voice is still deep sounding and it tires after a while. I also had a left neck dissection with lymph nodes removed. Anyway feeling fine but last few days my left side of neck has been achy. Only slightly but wondering if this is due to surgery but wasn’t sore before. So why now? Seeing my consultant in 2 weeks so will mention it to him. No pain there before so wondered why now all of a sudden although I know I am still healing. Had 24 nodes removed and 3 were affected. Take care xx

  • Hello,

It sounds like you've been doing stuff you don't normally do - lots of talking, being on a training course, maybe travelling to it, perhaps staying in a hotel with a different pillow and bed than you're used to at home.

All those things together mean you could have just been putting a bit more stress on your neck. 6 weeks isn't long. Some of the pain might just be the side effect of everything knitting itself back together as well.

Do tell the consultant, and don't be afraid to take the odd painkiller if it gets uncomfortable.

    Best wishes

  • Thanks Barbara! Yes I am in Spain for my course and it has been full on so I think you are right. Lots of extra work talking etc and in Spanish too! So my neck is still healing and all knitting together. Right side is fine and scar is looking really good. Xx

  • Did you fly over? I always fall asleep on flights and wake up with a crick in my neck and every time I sleep in a bed with a different pillow, I suffer with that too.
Try to stay awake on the flight back.

    Best wishes
