Hi, I had my surgery and treatment 6 years ago but over the last few months I’ve had a tickly throat and a bit of a cough. No pain or discomfort. I went to my ENT and they did an ultrasound anext scope. He seems to think it’s scar tissue. Has anyone else experienced this?? Seems strange that it would develop so long after my surgery??

many thanks x

  • Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community

I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet so just popped in to welcome you to the community. While you're waiting for replies if you type 'scar tissue' into the search bar at the top of the page you'll find various posts which mention this. You could have a read through some of them and respond to any of the more recent ones if you think the poster might be able to help you further. Likewise you could use this same technique if you wanted to search for people who have mentioned tickly throat or cough in their posts.

It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

  • Hi Jovay

My surgery was completed in August 2020 and I had RAI in October. Since spring this year I have had a very dry throat in the morning and a tickly cough. I thought it was maybe hay fever related but when I spoke to my consultant this week she said it was common after RAI. Surprising that you are troubled by this so long after your surgery and I hope its not holding you back. Best wishes for the future

Thanks very much for the reply. Yes, because of the length of time I’m not convinced it’s to do with treatment. I’m seeing an ENT tomorrow so hopefully they can shed some light?! Good luck with your recovery. A few months after my treatment I experienced blocked saliva glands and had a swollen face, but apparently that was all to do with the RAI treatment. It went after a week or so. Just letting you know in case you experience anything similar.
