  • Hi . Jo, I'm not a medically trained and I have a different type of cancer to you but I don't think Diarrhoea is a symptom. I would think it's caused more by the stress you're under at the moment. Hopefully some of the members here will come back with and answer.

You could also Ask a Nurse here on the forum but you may need to wait two or three days for a reply.

I Have the odd bout of diarrhoea, side effect of Brachytherapy so I bought some Immodium from the Pharmacy.

    All the best, B xx

  • Hi Jo,
If you're familiar with the expression 'scared shitless' (apologies for the language), that's most likely what's happening to you. When we are stressed, distressed and scared, everything does rather tend to get a bit unstable in the bowels.

I think this is just coincidence. There's a ton of different things can get you messed up in the toilet department but this is very unlikely to be CAUSED by having thyroid cancer.

If you can', it's probably best to stick to a bland diet for a few days, and if it doesn't go away soon, call your GP and ask if some dioralyte or imodium might help.

I'm a firm believer in letting the world fall out of your bottom before turning to tablets to bung you up, but if keeps on happening, don't ignore it and do please ask to speak to a nurse or doctor.

    Best wishes

    Barbara
