Evening all ,

I had a right hemithyroidectomy on Monday and was told in my pre op , meeting before op and a few times after op and in my letter I would get a phone call within the next 2 weeks to discuss my results. Today I had a call from my consultants secetary saying that he wanted to see me in his next clinic ( Tuesday ) but I'm wondering why his clinic when we discussed it being over the phone. We already discussed it was probably going to be cancer due to my family history and due to the size I wouldnt need the other side removing or further treatment ! Now I have a bank holiday weekend of wondering what's going on........

I had my kidney removed 10 weeks ago due to RCC and that has come back with positive margins so I was hoping for something straight forward and simple .

  • Hi Jemma

It's natural to worry about why you've been called in to see your consultant rather than to have the telephone conversation that you were expecting. Obviously anyone here would only be guessing but it could be something as simple as now that Covid isn't quite the threat it was your hospital is relaxing it's stance on hospital appointments.

Whatever the reason turns out to be do come back and let us all know how you get on tomorrow.

  • Hi Jemma
It could well be that when the doc suggested telling you over the phone, his hospital was still not accepting any 'non-essential' on-site visits. They may have relaxed their rules to let you go to the hospital instead now.
Honestly, I do believe that if you can SEE the doctor, it's better than hearing them.

But, I do recommend taking a friend or relative with you just in case you need some support.

    Best wishes

    Barbara
