Hi all, I’m having trouble at work due to sickness record, this is due to having 5 sicknesses in a period of time. All of which were surgeries. I had gyni one to remove fibroids back in 2017-18 ( soy guys) due to thyroid messing with hormones, that one didn’t work. Then had to have remaining half of thyroid out due too “suspicious nodules” in 2019, which then had the knock on effect of cause g
i issues so in 2020 January had to have hysterectomy so obviously off again with that. Had a serious problem in theatre had bronco spasms so in hospital instead overnight a week. That caused my asth
to flare up. Then in September had surgery number 8 on my ankle. So back to work yesterday and greeted by your invited to a formal meeting regarding your sicknesses next Friday 19th. They were not
terested that since cancer diagnosis it had caused other health issues. Can’t believe it I’m meant to work for a large pharmacy group that supports Macmillan. So upset by it. Has anyone of you got a
suggestions that I can take into the meeting. So upset about it all. So sorry for the long rant.
Hi joey5771
Being "invited" to attend a formal meeting regarding your sickness record must be a very daunting prospect.
I can see that you also posted this in the ask a nurse section of the online community and I wondered if you'd seen the reply. If not, clicking here will take you straight to it. The nurse has recommended that you contact the Macmillan work support service. If you click on the link you'll see there are various ways of contacting them.
If you've had cancer then you are protected by law from unfair treatment and this link will take you to information about cancer and employment rights.
Do get in touch with the Macmillan work support service as they will be able to help you prepare for your meeting on Friday.
