Hi, I have had my first check up after a thyroidectomy and RAI for stage 3 papillary cancer which fortunately went well. My concern is that I have been transferred back to ENT by my oncologist and the registrar said that he would not need to see me for 12 months and that I would probably only need annual blood tests from now on.
This is quite different to what I was told when first diagnosed with TC i.e. blood tests every 6 months and annual US neck scans. What are other peoples experiences of post treatment monitoring?
I will be discharged by oncology next week after 5 years of monitoring. Annual thyroid blood tests and thyroglobulin test. In addition my tsh and T4 blood test results have been reported to the CNS at the cancer hospital and she has advised on levothyroxine levels. Seems that I should only have expected a scan if the need was indicated by blood results. I hope you keep well
