Pls stay safe everyone, glad when all this is over.

Sending hugs xx

  • From reports yesterday, it looks like this is us for the next 12 months, ish. So buckle in and find some things to do and entertain yourself with! lol

I've made a post in the incurables as we're self isolating rather than just social distancing, but it'll be useful for everyone who is home and looking for things to do. So do have a nose!

    Chins up!

12 months!!! Omg this is so scary. I'm so angry as why the government hasn't ordered full lock down like Italy or Spain. Went out quickly yesterday for shopping essentials, people out everywhere, even caravan parks still taking visitors in. Its madness!  xx

  • I'm guessing here, but I think we will end up getting to lock down stage too. But you don't want to lock down too early because you still need some people getting infected to raise the immunity levels to try and reach herd immunity. Right now, we just need to slow the infection down a bit so that hospitals don't become inundated and we end up in Italy's situation where they are basically choosing who lives and who dies.

So we still want the virus doing the rounds just now, but more slowly. That's why this is possibly going to be 12 months of regulations. They'll need to relax the rules to let people mingle, wait for infection levels to rise to a level where they are managing but not stowed out, then tighten up the restrictions again to slow it down.

If you try and go into complete lock down for that entire time, you're going to end up with people revolting, and more issues than they can cope with.

It's sad, but I have a feeling that because of the stats, people don't think it's as rife as it is. We're only showing something like 2 or 3 thousand people officially diagnosed with it, haven't checked numbers recently. So the stupid in the population are going to look at that and think that's not many people in the whole country, so it can't be as bad as they're saying and folks are over reacting.

Then you've got the fact that generally, those in their 20's and 30's feel invincible. Like nothing can hurt them. And with this virus often not affecting those age groups as badly, there's a bit of a gung ho attitude to it all, where they don't care if they catch it because it's theoretically not going to kill them.

So..... To sum up..... Lol. Lots of stupid people, complex psychologies, and difficult decisions are why we're where we are and seeing what we're seeing.

I have made a sour dough starter and started to make my own bread. kneeding dough for 15 minutes is a great work out for the arms and a way to get rid of frustrations.

    Stay safe everyone

  • I typed up instructions a couple of days ago so that someone could try making a sourdough starter after they could find NO yeast in the shops!

Also sent them instructions on how to make Herman in case they do find yeast!

I'm going to be finding all the random tins and packets I've picked up from the shops, and working out how to use them! I started an experimental cooking picture folder on Facebook a while ago, and I can see many more interesting things being added to it over the coming weeks and months!

Just did an online shop with a local oriental supermarket. Def threw some random things into the basket to try! XD

I also seem to have a bug. I very much doubt it is THE bug because I've not been out the house for almost 2 weeks. But whatever it is, can sod off. Not in the mood for having a bug!

Hope everyone else is keeping well!

Well take care of yourself and fingers crossed it doesn't develop further.

My second lot of bread is resting in the fridge over night. Last time I cooked one loaf on a baking stone and the other a tray. Baking tray was much better. I am on trying to use up all leftovers so will  be making tattie scones for lunch tomorrow with poached eggs. My stock piling was 1/2 sack of potatoes, so will be trying lots of potato recipes in the next few weeks. I have lots of cans of pulses which I usually cook with tinned tomatoes or coconut milk, which I have none of. Will need to be brave and try something new, or hope the shops get more in.

    Stay safe x

  • Eek out your tins of pulses! Tesco have removed them completely from the shopping app because they are all sold out and there are no more to be had!

If you've got a tin of chick peas, you can roast them with a little oil and spices to make a great crunchy snack instead of crisps or popcorn. Use the liquid in the tin to make meringues or brownies, or other baked goods instead of egg whites. Look up recipes with aquafaba if you do. There's a brilliant Moroccan bean stew I do too if you've got a good spice cupboard. It does need tomatoes, but I'm sure a tin of soup or something would work as a swap.
