I’ve just been given the news that my FNA came back inconclusive. Because of the size of the nodule (3cm) we’re going with hemithyroidectomy hopefully within the next couple of months and they’ll send it off for testing.
I’m just feeling so frustrated at still being in limbo. I was hoping for an answer and everything is still pointing to the unknown.
Hello again
I'm sorry to hear that the results came back inconclusive, but I'm afraid that T3 is one of the most common results of an FNA. Of course, that doesn't really help you out one bit, but I just wanted you to know that most of us here have been in your shoes and so we understand the frustration, impatience, fear, etc that's running through your head right now.
I'm afraid that really the only thing to be done at the moment is to have patience. It's something we've all had to learn here, because almost nothing moves quickly in the world of thyroids! So the usual suggestions at the moment are finding ways to distract yourself from thinking about it by keeping busy. So spring cleaning that forgotten cupboard where things are shoved out of the way, going through your wardrobe to see if there's anything that can be donated or got rid of. Buying new things to fill the space you just made in your wardrobe! lol. Socialising with friends. Going to the theatre, Doing some gardening. And so on.
We've got plenty of tips for how to cope after the operation too, so once you've got your date then do give us a shout and we'll pass on the tips as they might be a bit much to take in and retain at the moment.
We're also here to chat to, about anything and everything. So please do give us a shout anytime!
Oh, and how's the tingling in your arms? Better? Did they find a cause?
Lass

Hiya Lass
Thanks for your message - I will definitely let you know when the date arrives. I’m hoping it’ll not be too long but trying to take reassurance from the fact that they’re not rushing it through.
I have a new job starting Monday so really am focusing on keeping busy over the weekend then I suppose after that it’ll be easier.
I hate that I’m going to have to ask for time off so soon into the new post though - I don’t want to seem unreliable.
I never found out what could be causing the weird arm sensations but they’ve stopped. Maybe it was from the tiredness; who knows?
All the best
