I am recovering well, but was aware that I have dealt with the treatments in a very clinical manner. I am usually a very emotional person, but since my diagnosis haven’t shed a single tear. I don’t think this is healthy.
I managed to get enough courage to drop into my local Maggies centre, walked round the car park 3 times before I felt brave enough to go in. I am so glad I did they were lovely. It felt so good to talk to someone. They are arranging for me to go on a mindfulness course in March.
If anybody Just wants to talk to someone I would strongly recommend it. I was surprised how good I felt when I left.
Heya Runner,
That's lovely to hear that you managed to get through the door and that it was a lovely experience once you got in there. We've just had a Maggie's built at my hospital, literally opened a couple of weeks ago, so I thought that next time I was down for an appointment I might pop in and have a nose, see what there is on offer and if there's anything I can offer myself.
I was wondering if you'd heard of the HOPE courses that MacMillan run as well? You might find them useful as well as the mindfulness courses. Do you have a MacMillan centre near you?

Hi Lass
I am sure you could offer the centre a lot. They are very knowledgeable on most cancers, but have little experience of thyroid cancer. They were interested in my RAI treatment, as I was the first person they had met who had received it. They had people asking about it, but could not give them the information they wanted. They offer a huge variety of courses along with space to just sit and relax. Somebody came in to meet a friend whilst I was there. I will definitely use it either before or after my next appointment.
i don’t think I have a Macmillan centre near me. I live in Fife but have received all my treatment in Dundee, which has been great as my other option would have been Edinburgh. The hospital in Dundee has a Maggies centre. Macmillan did contact me, but I didn’t see the point as they are based in Fife, not Dundee.
Take Care

Heya,
I found this link for you. It tells you a bit about the course and there's an enquire button you could push if you wanted to see if they'd run one near you, if you thought it might be of use at all. I think here, they're planning to run them at the Maggie's as it has more space than the Macmillan centre does.
Did you tell them about our little corner of the forum here where they could point people or come themselves for more info? Or did you offer to chat to folks if they needed it?
Fife is lovely though, a really nice wee spot of the country. The costal areas are stunning!
Sounds like you've got a really good place to go though in the Maggie's Centre. Fingers crossed mine is as good. I'll be heading down next month I think, as I got an appointment through today for my thyroid oncologist. So I'll be down sooner than I expected. lol
