Ultrasound

Hi

I was just wondering about my follow up ultrasound today. It was the same consultant that did my first ultrasound, then my biopsy. The first ultrasound seemed far more thorough, he checked blood flow etc, this one was extremely quick. I remember last time there was red and other colours on the screen, none of that this time. He did say that my remaining side is full of nodules, and that he will compare them to my previous scans and report back to my surgeon.

I just wondered anyone else’s experiences. This is my first ultrasound since my op a year past May.

Thanks

  • I only ever had one US and that was after surgery so there wasn't much to see.

I can imagine that pre-op, there's a lot more to look at than after. I'm sure your ultrasonographer will have been very thorough but it's quite likely there wasn't so much to measure and investigate this time around.

    Best wishes

  • Heya Oban,

Now, this is just a best guess, but from that I would assume that none of the nodules on your remaining half look suspicious. If they had, then he'd have done the blood flow and other checks just to see how suspicious they looked. So he'll have looked them all over and decided that nothing needs any further investigation at that time. So the only thing left to do, is do a size comparison to see if any have grown and by how much.

So I think rather than worrying he wasn't thorough, as you know he is from last time, I'd be thinking that all looked OK at the moment and there's nothing to be concerned about in that remaining half.
