Have you slept in a funny position or with new pillows?
Have you lifted something too heavy?
Have you over exerted in some way that something might be tweaked or pulled?
I'd suggest that if it's still happening next Monday, give your GP a ring and get an appointment. They'll be able to feel your neck professionally to check for lumps, and will have a better idea of what could be causing it.

still got tight feeling today but it comes and goes even think now it could be anxiety as my annual oncology appointment is due in 2 weeks and arranged doctors for next week thanks for reply x
