Hi All
Just wanted to give an update not been on here for a while, and I know I looked for posts about pregnancy after cancer.
Two months after a early miscarriage I was pregnant again don’t know if thyroid had anything to do with it but things happen.
I did it I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, I had a great pregnancy and didn’t need to increase my dose of thyroxine the whole pregnancy labour not so good but you can’t have everything. The only thing that did slightly worry me was that pre pregnancy my tg was 10 which had been slightly increasing but on the whole was stable. Two blood test taken while pregnant came back 20 and 30 a few weeks before he was born.
I will be retested in beginning of October just hoping the levels have dropped.
Also does anybody know anything about thyroid resistance syndrome as my cousin and my mum sister have tested positive for it and now my mum will have to be tested. Maybe we are a family of bad thyroid just hope I haven’t passed anything on to my little boy.
Heya,
Very many congrats on the birth of your son! That's wonderful news!
What is it you'd like to know about thyroid hormone resistance syndrome? I'll see if I know the answer or not.

Just a quick comment on your Tg results.
If you didn't change your dose throughout your pregnancy, I'm going to take a guess that by the time your Tg blood test was taken not long before birth, your TSH was probably significantly higher than pre-pregnancy (if you'd been appropriately TSH suppressed). Normally doctors relax the suppression during pregnancy so that could easily have the effect of increasing your Tg readings relative to when you were suppressed.
The increase would most likely only be significant if it remains that high after you get back to a suppressed TSH.
10 does mean you still have thyroid tissue in your body but it doesn't necessarily mean it's BAD thyroid tissue.
Best wishes

UPDATE
So after 10 weeks after giving birth my result have come back as...
TG 14 (10 was pre pregnancy which has been increasing from 5 after my op 3 years ago)
T4 27
TSH 0.02
antibodies are now present which is new so the plan is to have ultrasound and then ct scan.
is the tg still coming down as it was only 10 weeks ago?
my levothyroxine stayed the same through my pregnancy and now I have to reduce slightly.
Don’t really know so much on antibodies and I am also questioning could I have this thyroid resistant syndrome could be linked have to wait for my mums results and if they come back positive then I would be tested.
According to Wikipedia "Thyroid hormone resistance (also resistance to thyroid hormone (RTH), and sometimes Refetoff syndrome) describes a rare syndrome in which the thyroid hormone levels are elevated but the thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) level is not suppressed, or not completely suppressed as would be expected."
You have a TSH of 0.02
That's very suppressed.
Ergo, I think it's highly unlikely that you have this syndrome. If you did, your TSH would not be that low.
Please check it with your doctors, but I think you can put that one on the list of things you don't need to worry about.
Best wishes

Just had my ultrasound and they spotted two nodules around the thyroid bed so have to wait to get them fine needle biopsy.
I have had two fine needles before but both were in lymph noddles one each side of the neck and came back fine it’s just with these being on the bed I’m a little bit worried.
Heya,
Just wondering if you'd had the FNAs and the results yet?
How are you and baby getting on?
And yes, if you're only 10 weeks out then those are still combined hormones. My oncologist said she'd not test for 3 to 6 months, closer to the 6, after a pregnancy to allow levels to right themselves again.

FNA not till 21st Nov, my ultrasound was 28th oct so seems a long time to wait but it won’t change the outcome might ring to get a closer date.
I do have a feeling these nodules are what’s causing the tg consultant said biggest one is 8mm which would be borderline for treatment like surgery incase it too small and missed. If I do need treatment which is likely rai or surgery?
Me and the little one are doing great thanks
Hey there,
How did the FNA go last week? Any results back yet?
As for treatment, that's very much down to each individual doctor. Some would go for surgery and RAI, others would just do surgery, while the rest would go straight for RAI. It would need to be a chat with the doctor to see their preference, but they may take your feelings into account too. So if you had a preference, you could almost certainly chat that over and see if that was a viable route to take.

Hi lass
went for the biopsy but it was a different guy and he said it was 5mm by 8mm so slightly smaller than he would like to biopsy and it was a near a major blood vessel and said the risk was bigger of bleeding which scared me as I had a big bleed with my labour a few months ago so them words didn’t sit well with me and he said his advice was to wait so I’m a little confused as one person suggested to biopsy it and the other said to wait till it gets bigger so not sure if I have done the right thing and to wait till February?
