Symptoms and pain help - Hospital or GP responsibility?

Hi,

With NHS GPs working so differently these days there appears to be unwillingness to help regarding pain and other symptoms. I have asked the hospital and they just refuse to help saying that it is the GP’s responsibility. I explain to the GP and they say it’s the hospital. I am left between two groups both unwilling to help.

Is there a way to get clarification on who is responsible for what?

I am Brian one of the Community Champions here on the online Community. I have just noticed your post has gone unanswered. I have a different cancer so I can't give you a specific answer but by me replying your post will be "bumped up" to the top of the group and I hope seen and answered by other members of the Thyroid group.

  • Hi, I have also had problems with this but shouldve known how it works due to working in a GP surgery.

if you are needing any medication such as painkillers and the gp has not prescribed it for you before you will need to speak or see a GP first.

im no longer under my surgeon as I’m now at Christie’s so the hospital no longer prescribed any medication I ask the nurses at Christie’s and they do it for me as I’m under their care now. If you do have a nurse give them a call or text and they should be able to sort anything you need.
