Question about lump size.

Hello everyone.

I hope it is OK to post again so soon.  I have my ENT appointment tomorrow afternoon and I am feeling pretty anxious about what to expect.  I had my scan on Monday but they wouldn’t tell me anything and just said they would send the report to the ENT doctor for tomorrow.

The mass I have on my thyroid is quite large.  The GP wrote it down in my initial consultation as 4 x 2 cm.  My question is, in the experience of people here, what can I expect given the size?  If there are no suspicious feature on ultrasound, will it just be left alone or will they remove it anyway due to size to check?  Does the fact I have trouble swallowing and hoarseness because of it make any difference?  I know nobody can tell me the future, but I thought perhaps people might have an idea from experience.

Also, my previous experience in scans is that if they are done by a doctor and all is fine they will usually tell you this and so the fact that they wouldn’t say anything is making me panic a bit. Maybe I’m reading too much into it and looking for clues but it’s kind of worrying me to be honest.

Any advice or info greatly appreciated.
