Hi everyone,
Im 32 and found a lump on my right testicle at the end of August, an ultrasound showed a definite tumour in the right and an area of potential ‘scarring’ on the left. A follow up scan was advised on the left in 6-8 weeks and I had an orchidectomy on the right in October. After the various tests and scans it was diagnosed as a stage 1 Seminoma with no spread whatsoever. I qualified for a ‘mop up’ dose of chemo which I was eager to have however this was put on hold as I had my follow up ultrasound on the left and they now suspect it is a tumour. I’ve been told to expect my left orchidectomy to be in the coming week. I haven’t taken this particularly well as I’ve gone from being told the cancer was gone to being told actually there was another tumour there the whole time. I’m also apprehensive about now having to have testosterone replacement for the rest of my life. Has anyone had a similar experience to this and does anyone have any positive/negative experiences they’re happy to share around trt?
I’ve read a little bit about it and think I would lean more towards injections rather than gels as I have young kids and would be worried about exposure from the gel.
Cheers
Hello, my story is amazingly similar to your situation, except I was twice your age when a lump was discovered by me during routine shower self-exam. Ultrasound confirmed tumor, and my right testicle was removed and found to have cancer cells. Abnormal left resulted in monitoring for nearly a year, when another ultrasound showed a tumor; and removed 10 months after the first was removed.
I immediately started TRT gel, and it eliminated hot flashes and night sweats shortly after the second removal.
The best part of the gel for me is that I can get and maintain erections for ongoing sexual relations. The only side effect has been an increase in PSA score and prostate enlargement, which may also be attributable to my 60+ age. Cutting back to 1 pump of gel a day is working to relieve prostate enlargement and maintain erections.
Having no TRT injection experience I cannot comment, but you having children may be a sound reason to go the TRT injections route.
Also, I went 5 years until I decided to get testicular protheses, which has helped psychologically and cosmetically, especially when at my fitness center.
Best wishes and my prayers to your new lifestyle.
