Hiya

I was diagnosed with testicular cancer 2022 , have operation to remove.  12 months later to the day , the cancer had come back,  and I was given 5 doses of chemotherapy,  as my lynodes where 7.5cm xcm large   I had a ct scan  17th Aug 2024 and the Lymnode is still 3.9 cm x 3.5cm, my oncology doctor says I need a retroperitoneal lymph dicession operation,  does any one know how long you have to wait for this operation,  after diagnosis? I've emailed my doctor 3 times asking for information at operation and a update but not heard back since my call on 5 September 2024 , am stressing as time passing with no information.  Any pointers would be much appreciated. Thanks

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm sorry to read that you've had a recurrence and it must be extremely distressing not being able to find out what's happening.

Have you been assigned a cancer nurse specialist (CNS), sometimes referred to as a key worker or Macmillan nurse, as they will liaise between you and your consultant? If you haven't you could ring your consultant's secretary and she should be able to help.

I'm not a member of this forum but noticed that your post hadn't had any replies. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list.

While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment to date into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
