Hello, I'm 19 and I've recently been diagnosed with testicular cancer. The tumor was in my right testicle and was the size of 18x13mm.
MRI of my abdomen and my lower stomach said all of my organs were clear, but I had 2 bit larger Lymph nodes that were around 18mm in size, tho on the paper it says without infiltrations (I dont know what that means exactly).
Im taking a CT scan of my lungs in 2 days.
I had my right testicle removed last friday.
Now my questions:
1.Does size of the tumor tell anything about whether it has spread or not? I've been told that i found it quite early .
2.I'ts been 6 days since my operation and I've wondered if I could have sex or masturbate, someone told me i would have problems but I had erection the day i was operated.
Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community
I'm sorry to hear that you've recently been diagnosed with testicular cancer and I hope the CT scan went well.
I don't know the answer to your questions but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. While you're waiting you could also post your questions in the ask a nurse section of the community and one of the specialist nurses will aim to reply within 2 working days.
When you have a minute, it would be really useful if you could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Hi
The size of the tumor is one of the factors they consider when deciding what treatment to recommend. Mine at 42mm was 2mm into the higher risk category so they recommended a single cycle of chemo. Your tumor seems to be below the high risk size threshold, but your enlarged lymph nodes (which I didn't have) might still mean they recommend some chemo.
There is no reason why this will impact your sex drive. I'm 47 and it's had no impact on mine.
Best wishes
G
If your lymph nodes are 18mm they might watch them closely for a bit to see if there's any changes. Tumor size in testicle can make a difference but yours is not big. What is a little more important is the type of tumor. Sexual function and hormones are not affected by having only one testis as the remaining one should pick up the slack.
