Hi fellas, I hope you are well.
I come looking for some advice, I had a unilateral orchiectomy nine weeks ago, and now my remaining testicle is hurting, it feels swollen and hurts when I put on a pair of jeans or trousers.
Is this normal, has anyone else experienced their remaining testicle hurt after orchiectomy, does the remaining testicle ever settle down?
Hi Oscar, I wish it was fun mate, the human body is nothing but a disaster. I've never smoked, drunk or done drugs and my body pays me back by giving me terrible pain in the worst place possible.
I still get pain in the remaining testicle, and terrible pain on the orchiectomy side at the inguinal area, inner thigh and knee; there is some trigger at the inguinal ring where the cord was.
Hey Chip, I know, the human body is a miraculous thing but when it fails . . . . it fails!!
It's very frustrating that there doesn't appear to be any answers to why we have these pains but they all sound of similar nature starting from the groin and going up or down.
I did find out that there is a nerve connecting the testicle to your lower back which my acupuncturist found during one session and I hit the roof! Did not know that until last year.
Hi Oscar and Chip, thanks for the updates! I'm 2.5 years out now and also still have intermittent pain from the remaining. The main irritation is the constant paranoia that the other testicle is going the way of the first!
Out of interest, do either of you have microlithiasis (calcium deposits) in your remaining testicle? I am curious if that could be the cause of the discomfort.
Thanks and hope you're doing well.
Hi
During various scans it was mentioned about some "calcification".
Once it was a Doctor/ Consultant and they said they would monitor it with US on an annual basis.
They suggested if I was younger it would be more frequent. Before the op I think it could be seen in both but the tumour obscured them a bit. I am iny 50's
The oncologist didn't seem too concerned.
Take care..
Hi Chip5,
I had my left testicle removed in 2020 and have had pain on the right side. Strangely enough over the last 5 weeks it has been increasingly more painful and when I mentioned it to my consultant at a testosterone level check he took a history, checked my testicle and prostate. Have been referred for some scans and started on antibiotics which seem to be helping. I've also got microlithiasis as well which doesn't really cause any issue but is a risk factor for testicular cancer returning.
Hi all, first ever post here. Almost 8 weeks now since I had right testicle removed (think I am still in shock) and over past week have had constant ache in left lower back/testicle (sounds weird but it is hard to tell exactly where ache is)
Went to GP who felt remaining testicle and found nothing so also paid for private ultrasound who also found no evidence of cancer but did find a small varicocele and some pearls in the scrotum.
Sounds like other people have experienced similar aching in the remaining testicle post operation?
Is there anything else you would advise me to do?
Next appointment with oncologist not until November
