Hello everyone,

I am Jill and I am 31 years old and has been recently diagnosed with Stomach Cancer. The diagnosis came as a surprise because the symptoms I had all happened in a span of a month and I was told it was stress or IBS until I started becoming sick after every meal. I have a feeding jejunostomy tube now as I could not eat and drink anything without being sick and I had my first cycle of chemo last Monday the 27th of November. Luckily, I was offered chemo surgery and then chemo.

Has anyone experienced being sick with bile brown vomit after chemo as that’s what I keep being sick of as of the moment? Also, after a few cycles of chemo do you think I should trial to eat something just to check if it’s going down without being sick? My surgeon said I should but I don’t know when and what to start?

Many thanks for all you help and replies.

God bless us all! X

  • Hi, sorry to hear about your diagnosis… I was like you thought it was ibs… it was found on a routine endoscopy stage 4 signet ring and then it was a rollercoaster with everything (November 23rd 2021).. I didn’t have a tube (only after surgery) … chemo I was sick with yellow/brownish bile, due to an empty stomach… and then the bowels started too… if you are at concerned phone the 24hour helpline… after my 2nd round/before my third I was given different anti sickness meds and they helped… had to take them a few days before chemo… if your surgeon has said it’s ok to start eating, do it… but take it slowly, as you haven’t been eating it will no doubt not taste nice with the side effects of chemo… trial and error of what you fancy will happen.
hope I’ve helped a wee bit for you!
    take care
