I’m new to this forum as it was suggested to me by a friend of mine. I’m 34yo and was diagnosed with T4N1M1 Stomach cancer last year which had spread to the peritoneum and omental tissues. Had an ileostomy done due to intestinal obstruction and did 6 cycles of capecitabine and oxaliplatin which ended last April. I recently had 5days of radiotherapy as there was a lesion seen in my L4 spine and have been experiencing side effects. I wanted to ask if somebody has a similar situation as I do and was able to go through with total gastrectomy? I was told several times by my consultants that TG would no longer be beneficial to my case as they deemed me as palliative already. But I have high hopes meeting someone here that did the surgery despite having the cancer in the peritoneum and is thriving. I feel as though the consultants are not listening to me when I tell them the great discomfort I feel as though my ribs are being pushed outwards and that unbearable pain. All the time they would just suggest to take pain medications but doing that no longer leads to a quality of life when I feel drowsy and weak all the time.
I am really sorry to hear about your diagnosis and you are so young. I think it would be worth getting a second opinion. I know others on this group have done this and surgery has been performed.
It may be worth considering! You could put a search on this site to explore further. X
