Direct family member has a cancerous tumour like a hernia?

Hi, I’m new here and I’m trying to work out what is going on with my family member - I don’t cope well without you facts and obviously I need to protect my family by not charging at this like a bull in a  china shop,  which is my M.O.

I was told a little while ago that my family member has suspected stomach cancer but without more invasive tests they wouldn’t know definitively. All treatment has been refused and so has further investigation which everyone is supportive and respects the decision.

On a visit I was kinda pulled aside as I was consoling the person and I was being told too look after other members and being asked if I’m ok, whilst their sobbing..I’m sure if you’re on here, you know what I mean. This was Christmas Eve and I found out that a few days prior to my visit that a ‘hernia’ was breaking down and therefore thought to be a tumour……

so, without distressing anyone else further, I need to get my head around this especially as I am not in good health.  Has anyone had a similar experience? I have so many questions running through my mind….mostly is a tumour like this typical for stomach cancer and how quickly could this become fatal, I’m aware if the skin is breaking down then infection could set in.

I really cope better when I know what to expect, or what the possibilities are. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I don't have any experience with stomach cancer but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' your post back to the top of the discussion list.

Hopefully someone will be along soon to share their experiences with you.
