Hi my mum has just been diagnosed with cancer , it started in her ovaries and has spread to stomach , she is going for a meeting to discuss chemotherapy treatment tomorrow , are there any questions she should be asking ? Any advice would be appreciated
I'm really sorry to hear about your Mum's diagnosis and I hope that she has a great treatment plan ahead. As it sounds like it is ovarian cancer, you may find lots of experiences to read about in the ovarian cancer forum which I hope will be useful.
I think it would also be good to know about any potential targeted treatment or immunotherapy that may be an option or any suitable clinical trials although it may also be a bit early to discuss them, doctors usually prefer to go through standard treatment first and see how things go. Depending on your Mum's age and family history, genetic testing may also be useful not just for her but also for you.
I'm very sorry again that your Mum and you and your family is going through this. Going on Macmillan is a really good idea to get some idea from other people about how to deal with cancer and receive any advice.
