Hi all I am a 62 year old male, i have just had an endoscopy last Friday which was done by a surgeon so may have been to my benefit has he spotted Cancer right away, they took biopsies and after the surgeon had that difficult convesation with me about stomach cancer. I now have an appointment on Wednesday for a CT scan. I am the going on holiday for ten days after which I will have my meeting with MDT to discuss next steps, the surgeon has already indicated that I will need an operation to take away my stomach followed by chemotherapy. scary times to say the least but that is obviously the reason i am here to share my story and to read simular posts. Hi everyone.

  • Hi, sorry to hear of your diagnosis… you’ve come to the right place to have help if any questions needed to be answered, if possible. All I would say is take a questions with you when you have an appointment with your MDT… it will help so your mind isn’t distracted when they start talking to you.. .

    Take care, be positive…

  • Hi

I am sorry that you find yourself here but glad you have reached out to the group.  I had stomach cancer four years ago and had chemo and a partial gastrectomy.   I now lead a normal life, eating and drinking much as I did before!  Although smaller portions, but I wasn’t a big eater!

    I wrote a Blog

A few things helped me.  The Oesophageal Patient Association had good and helpful information

It’s good you are going on holiday, I found it helped me to focus on things I could control!  Eating as well as I could, walking a lot and doing things that made me happy!

Please do post any questions or send me a DM

    Good luck!
