Hi
I’m not sure how to start my first post and apologies if it seems long winded but I’ve had a rough time lately.
After having recovered from a mountain bike accident with a shattered scapula last year, at the beginning of the month I was involved in an RTC that wasn’t my fault, my new car was written off and then to top it off I’ve recently been diagnosed with gastric carcinoma in my stomach fundus?
I started having stomach pains just below my sternum around 10-12 weeks ago, visited the GP and was seen by a nurse practitioner. I had routine blood tests and a stool sample done which came back normal and I was prescribed Lanzoprazole. An endoscopy was ordered for further investigation which I had on the 18th July and that’s when they found “something that looked sinister” so had biopsy’s taken. My partner asked if it was cancer and I was more or less told then it was a possibility, then had it confirmed on a visit to the GP the day after.
My partner is an emotional wreck. I understand what I have but am putting on a brave face for everyone when inside I’m sh*****g myself.
I had a CT scan on Wednesday gone (27 July) and have been called into the hospital on Tuesday (2 Aug) for a chat and pre assessment.
The support of my friends, family and employer has been superb but I can’t help worrying about our financial situation as I’ll only get SSP.
Hopefully on Tuesday I’ll have a better picture of what’s happening
Hi
Sorry to hear what a tough time you have had and to have a cancer diagnosis too! This is the hardest time as you don’t know what you are dealing with!
I was in the same position four years ago! Vague symptoms- feeling sick and loss of appetite- then diagnosed with stomach cancer!
I had chemo and then surgery! I am now well and live a normal life! I couldn’t imagine how that was possible when I got the diagnosis! So there are many people who survive cancer! If it helps you can read my Blog which I wrote when going through treatment.
When you go on Tuesday you will get more information, as at this point the medical team are getting information from the tests. Then the MDT will agree a treatment plan. The gold standard treatment is Chemo then surgery followed by more chemo.
I am happy to answer any questions you have or do post on this group !
Good luck!
Jac
