My partner has just been told he has a stomach ulcer (2cm) that is cancerous. He has been told that he has lymph node involvement. At the moment we are waiting for an appointment with our local hospital as he became ill, vomiting blood when working away and its taken some time for results and the information should be being transferred. He also had a CT on stomach and was told no lesions on surrounding organs or bones. Does anyone know what lymph node involvement means? We are extremely anxious x

  • Hi

Sorry to hear about your partner’s diagnosis and it must be harder as he was unwell away from home.  This is the hardest time as you don’t know what you are dealing with!  The medical team will be gathering information in order to determine a treatment plan.  Lymph node‘involvement’ usually means there has been some spread from the tumour to lymph nodes but if there’s no spread to other organs that’s a positive.

There are a number of treatment options- so it’s a good idea to write down all your questions so that you can ask the consultant.  It does get easier once the Multi Disciplinary Team meet and agree the treatment plan. Often that is Chemo followed by surgery and then more chemo.

Do use this Forum for support.  I found the information from the OEsophageal Patient Association really helpful

    Good luck!

  • Thank you so much for your reply. Its been such a whirl with having to chase up results from the hospital where he was and not being prepared when they got in touch last week. I did manage to persuade our GP to refer him to our local hospital so that they are prepared and hopefully we will hear something this week. X
