Hi, I had my TG 7 weeks ago and all is well with recovery etc, but I’m about to start back on chemo on the 10th of June and I feel so nervous this time around, I don’t know whether it’s because I’m finally feeling normal again and I know what’s going to happen. I’ve also been feeling a little low lately I think it’s to do with the reality of everything since being diagnosed last November and it’s finally caught up with me.

Does anybody have the same feelings as me? Is it normal?

Thank you

Wow! You have done so well to get through the operation!  Chemo after surgery isn’t an easy prospect!  But you have been through a lot so far so this is the next climb up the mountain! The last lap in your treatment pathway!

I think a diagnosis of cancer brings so many emotions- shock, anger, disbelief!  Similar to grief in a way - as you have lost confidence in your body.

This article by Dr Peter Harvey helped me a lot - you are still going through treatment so perhaps it’s not all relevant?

Have you thought about well-being support, Maggie’s Centres are great!  Do you have one near you? If you live in Scotland, Cancer Support Scotland provide counselling support.

    Good luck!

  • I know exactly how you feel. I had partial gastrectomy in October and recovered really well. After Christmas I spoke to the oncologist who told me I would be starting my flot in January and I was dreading it but to be honest I coped really well with it moreso than the first time and was completed start of March. I have had a couple of staycations since and I'm looking forward to my first holiday abroad in 2 and a half years. Good luck with the rest of your treatment. You are nearly there.

  • Hi, thank you for your message! That’s fabulous to hear about yourself, well done, it’s so positive. Awww lovely you’ve had a couple of staycations!
    Thank you again.

    Take care.
