I'm new to the group although I have been reading posts and discussions since last September. My husband was diagnosed with Stage 3 stomach cancer and has had four infusions of FLOT, surgery, and has just started his next round of four more infusions of FLOT. It is now, immediately after his first infusion of this final round, that he is feeling really sick.  Anyone in the group have any advice?

  • Hi

Sorry to hear about your husband.  I think the chemo after surgery is harder and so it’s not unusual for nausea to be a side effect.  A gastrectomy is hard enough to adjust to without chemo on top!

There’s a wide range of anti-sickness medication and I tried them all!  I found eating dry tea biscuits and drinking as much water as possible helped a bit but it was a case of getting through the first few days.  Did he have nausea with chemo before surgery?
It would be worth asking the specialist nurse for advice if it gets worse or doesn’t improve.

    Hope he feels better soon!

  • Thank you for your help. We were blessed that he didn't feel sick at all through the first four infusions. I'm just hoping he'll get through these last three.

    Thanks again,
