Good afternoon I was diagnosed with stomach cancer February 2021. After 4 courses of chemo I had surgery to part remove the stomach in July. The results of the biopsy of the tumour and lymph nodes they took out was excellent and was informed I was cancer free. Unfortunately my wound opened up and was not healed during the 12 week of opportunity to do the follow up chemo. the decision was made to not undertake further chemo as any benefits would outweigh the risk due to the open wound Early September I experienced back pain and GP felt it may be muscular due to lack of exercises etc whilst I was under treatment. However the exercises and physio did not appear to help so asked GP to arrange for X-ray just in case it was cancer related. The results came back to indicate it was not cancer related and was due to arthritis . However the back pain continued and at a recent follow up with the cancer nurse as a precaution she had a complete blood test undertaken. The results indicated there was signs of calcium in the blood and a follow up CT scan confirmed that unfortunately the cancer has spread to my bones covering back, pelvis and spine etc. So I am now waiting for further Radiography and chemo. Does any one have similar experience as above?
Hi Palmer and a very warm welcome to the online community
I'm sorry to read that you have recently discovered that your stomach cancer has spread to your bones.
I don't have the experience you're looking for but noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. By responding to you it will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list where it'll be more easily spotted.
While you're waiting for replies it would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
You could also join the secondary bone cancer group and see if there's anyone there who has had stomach cancer that has spread. If this is something that you'd like to do clicking on the link will take you straight there where you can join and post in the same way as you did here.
