she starts chemo tomorrow, them goes home with a pump that releases drugs into her body for 2 days .
shes having 4 sessions 2 weeks apart , then surgery in sept followed by a rest break then 4 more sessions 2 weeks aprt .
obviously i know everyone is different but any advice would be appreciated. and also as chemo is every 2 weeks how long should she expect to feel ill .. ie will she have chemo .. feel ill the whole 2 weeks then have chemo again etc etc or can she expect to feel ok part of the time . ?
also ive read drink drink drink and keep hydrated.. but mum said nurses said only hot drinks ? .
I mums main support , dads with her but hes got chronic fatigue and i can see hes scared so i take her to hospital appts. 55 years together … shes his life .. so im looking after them both . Im 5 mins walk away and can be there to help when ever .
anyway thanks for reading x
Yes andy it is flot ! Only found that out myself yesterday ( mums first day of chemo )
Hi Michelle
Sorry to hear about your mum. I had stomach cancer two years ago and had chemo and a partial gastrectomy. I wrote a Blog which you can read if you click on my name.
FLot is a different chemo than I had so it may be that cold drinks are difficult to manage. I drank 1 and half to two litres of water every day during chemo. Usually the first week is the hardest and then you feel better.
The first cycle is hard as you don’t know what to expect but the specialist nurse will help and give advice. I tried to go for a short walk every day even though it was a struggle some days.
I will send you a friend request and please PM if I can help
Jac
