Hi, I have recently been diagnosed with gastric SRCC. I have had previous breast cancer and was very ill with sigmoid diverticulitis and neutropenic sepsis after one dose of chemo. My CRP was above 500 and they were talking about removing part of my bowel if it didnt reduce, luckily it did after copious amounts of IV antibiotics.
I had a staging laparosopy and endoscopy which showed the tumour has advanced from t3 to t4 in a couple of weeks but the good news no metastates. The surgeon has offered me curative gastrectomy (t4 n1 m0 7cm locally advanced tumour) alongside chemo however he was quite negative stating because of the srcc being so aggresive he may not have clear margins therefore could open me up but not do the surgery, he said the likelehood of recurrance is very high so he could have removed my stomach needlessly, there are numerous complications that could develop following surgery and the chance of metastises is very high. I do not want FLOT or surgery therefore Im going down the palliative gentle chemo and immunotherapy route. Has anyone had the same? I am so needing to talk to anyone in a similar situation. Thank you for reading and God Bless.
Hi, I’m replying to keep your post high to hopefully get you some further responses, I had the same type of cancer and had sub total gastrectomy, there are a lot of people on here that have had a TG, can you get a second opinion as you say there’s no metastasis? Many people live well without a stomach.
