Another stent

Yesterday I was taken into the endoscopy as a urgent case , food was not getting out off my stomach resulting in constant vomiting , after a extremely grueling and very unpleasant procedure of clearing out my stomach and fitting another stent , this time they inserted a bigger one by placing it in the old one to further open it up so hopefully my stomach could empty better..the whole procedure to at least 30 mins and the sedation useless, afterwards my throat was so sore the back off my nose was burning , at least I thought it done perhaps I can now get a little normality. No such luck woke up in the middle of the night being sick yet again ..except this time it was excruciating as my throat was so sore .....it looks like it will be back to soups and baby food for a while again and my Xmas dinner is in real doubt.

  • Hi ukmartian welcome to the forum. Thats a Shame that you are still experiencing issues with eating and food. Maybe Xmas dinner might need to be blended down and I know that's not the same, it does include you though. Have they given you any medication to help with the impact of the vomiting on the oesophagus or your throat? It's maybe worth asking them if medication would be of help in your case or help at all. I hope you start to feel better soon.

  • I have metoclopramide that's all , my throat is so sore especially above my palette at the back , it feels like there are pieces of broken glass in there and I can't clear it as it is to painful i do know that I had a intravenous anti biotic injection as  I was so sick during the procedure and was at on stage struggling to breath ..I unfortunately not eaten today just can't face food at all , christmas dinner won't be blended , it may well be my last so it will be the same besides mashed pots mushy peas roast spuds chestnut stuffing is all quite soft with plenty of gravy, will have to make sure my turkey is nice and tender lol

  • Just an update ..its 2 weeks since my second stent , I had about 4-5 days of residual sickness which has now stopped and I am now eating almost normally again ,I don't know whether it was the stent or nerve probs to the stomach caused by chemo but I had my last chemo in October and basically feel much better, I am only on immunotherapy  now every 4 weeks , my oncologist is pleased with my progress and has ruled out radiotherapy..He has even sanctioned me a occasional Xmas drink as long as i don't go mad ..lol

  • Hi I’m glad you’re feeling a little better, hopefully you can enjoy Christmas, I was also told not to overdo the alcohol !

  • Not so much alcohol lol...its the turkey and all the trimmings I am thinking about...can't go without my Xmas dinner ...just gotta retrain my stomach lol
