Hey Everyone,
Following my Diagnosis, my treatment plan is Chemo x 4, op, Chemo x 4. I have just completed my first cycle (done 8 days ago). Main side effects were diarrhoea, heartburn and tiredness - all very manageable and I believe I have managed ok with the first cycle (taken All the meds provided by the fantastic nurse team). Appreciate everyone is different, however Do you know if it stays the same during each cycle, or do the symptoms get worse at each cycle. My next cycle is in 5 days and I’m a little apprehensive as I kinda know what to expect.
thanks in advance for any advice. Be well xx
Sounds like the dosage is right for you! My husband has stomach cancer and his first FLOT chemo left him hospitalised on a drip for 5 days as he had acute diarrhoea They reduced it slightly and the next 3 sessions were ok although still rendered him extremely exhausted and unable to eat. He was glad of the week in between to get his strength back. Wishing you the best with the rest of your treatment
Hi
Good to get the first one over with! Though it’s hard to put yourself through it again, just as you are starting to feel better! I found the first cycle the hardest particularly as I didn’t know what to expect and I was completely floored for three days. The Specialist Nurse was great and they reduced the dose for the last two cycles.
You just have to hang in there and seek advice from the medical team!
Good luck!
Jac
Well done for getting through your first one. My third one wasn’t very nice as I had a lot of sickness and diarrhoea and had to go in to hospital on a drip and a anti sickness drive. The oncologist then reduced one of the chemos and it helped on the rest and had a different anti sickness tablet to take a few days before my chemo was due… I was pre-warned before chemo that as I had morning sickness quite bad with both my sons I would no doubt suffer with sickness with chemo… BUT that was my side effects and not going to say you’ll suffer the same, as everyone is different. You are doing amazing and stay positive.
Take care
Michele
Hi Fingeless, you are right in that everyone is different however we are all here because of cancer and this is the best place to be for help and advice, i have not long finished my four rounds of pre op chemo before having a total Gasterectomy in just over two weeks, I have to admit the next four rounds of chemo worry me but from reading other posts on here i know like you we will get through this.
Stay strong, trust the experts and always ask questions if in any need or doubt. X
