Hi all

my dad has been Dias gnoses this week and from what I read on the cancer research website on it, it didn’t make for good reading.

im desperate to hear from anyone with this diagnosis.

my dad is 67, hasn’t eaten for 6 weeks and has lost half his body weight, which thankfully he was chunky before x

i feel so helpless on how to help him eat. He is due for an endoscopic ultrasound soon.

can anyone give advice or share stories about this diagnosis?

thanks in advance guys

    Thank you all xx

im having up and down days x he is eating a half cup of soup a day but doesn’t appear to be drinking as much. His urine is so dark. Sometimes when he is sleeping it takes a second to wake him. When he is awake he goes from being lucid to then appearing to be glazed over. He is constantly cold too.

He is chirpy in himself when awake. He will just listen to our conversations. It’s awful and he says he isn’t ready to go yet.

I swing between wanting him to stay like this for months so long as he is alive, to wanting his suffering to be over ASAP.

He has to be held up now to pee and have his pants pulled down for him which kills me inside because he is a proud man. He constantly thanks all us kids for everything when he has absolutely no need to.

Sorry for my rambling, just needed to offload to someone who isn’t in this house x

Hello Mel,my dad has just been diagnosed with gastric linitis plastica they have said it's too late to operate or to have chemo, even tho he has lost alot of weight and is tired he is happy,I was just wondering if your dad is still with us,I'm really scared cause all I hear is that I need to prepare myself for the symptoms,I understand if you don't want to reply

    Hey Shoob xx

Sending you so much love and hugs at this difficult time xx

My beautiful brave dad, died 8 weeks after diagnosis on Father’s Day 2019. He ended up with sepsis, MRSA and went into a hospice.

He too had linitis plastica , but please don’t compare to my dad. My advice is just to enjoy every minute you can squeeze out of him and make memories.

This pic is from when he was in the hospice about a week before he died. Miss him so much.. my best mate Purple heart

I'm so sorry for your loss it's heartbreaking your dad looks like a very kind man,we are making loads of memories at the moment with the kids but he is constantly in the bathroom being sick but he is in no pain just really tired the specialist have decided to give him half a dose of chemo to see if it helps with the symptoms he just wants to make it to Christmas with the kids xx
