Recovery after total Stomach removal.

My initial surgery seemed to be ok and I was released from hospital 6 days after my stomach was removed.  But after a week I developed a bad chest infection and returned to hospital.  The doctors could not establish what was causing this.  A fluid drain was inserted between my lung and rib cage.  A litre of fluid was extracted in 15mins but the flow rate has now significantly decreased.

I have been allowed to increase food intake to liquid foods and in small portions.  So far this is ok and I am not hungry during the day.  The diet is extremely limited.

Tests have shown improvement in blood results.

My picc line had to be taken out as it kinked near my shoulder and stopped working.   A new one was inserted but did not work.  A cannula had to inserted but was painful.

It looks like I will remain in here for another few days.

I had started walking well on  my own but after returning to hospital I have not been as mobile.

Best Wishes

David.
