I have just finished my flot chemo which became difficult. The drugs were changed for the 4th cycle to try and ensure my body did not react so badly. I had a CT scan last week but I have not seen the results.
My consultant is proposing total stomach removal in 2 weeks time ( 4 weeks after my last chemo session) which I am surprised about as I thought there needed to be time for my body to recover from chemo. I am still weak and have side effects. We are meeting in a week to discuss. Any views and, if applicable, how long was your gap between end of chemo and surgery?
Ahh brilliant David! Not long to wait! I’ll hopefully see you there , best of luck with the surgery! You’ll be absolutely fine!
Best of luck to you as well. The hospital spoke to me today about their enhanced recovery programme and I have a pre-op assessment on Thurs.
We are fortunate that my niece lives close to the hospital so my wife will stay with her whilst I am recovering.
Best Wishes
David.
Did you need an iron infusion before the op David? I had to go for one today. Although it’s in normal range it’s the lower side of the normal so they said they want it to be optimised for surgery
Its not been mentioned so I assume my blood tests showed it to be ok. I had my pre-op assessment a couple of days ago. I have been given details of what medications I need to stop ( and when) before surgery.
