Lonsurf treatment for mum's inoperable stomach cancer

My mum was diagnosed with inoperable stomach cancer 3 years ago when she was age 81. She benefited from two different forms of chemo but in each case the cancer eventually beat the treatment. The latest scan shows that the cancer is growing. Her choice is to begin a 'last resort' treatment of Lonsurf or to let things be. It would be helpful to understand views of others who might have encountered this drug. Mum hasn't had many side effects from the other forms of treatment but Lonsurf could make her feel very sick and she doesn't want to feel any worse than she already does. If you have experience of Lonsurf let me know. Thank you. Diane

  • HI and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I don't have the experience you're looking for but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list.

  • Thank you. I've been told that Lonsurf isn't a commonly used treatment so there might not be much experience out there.

  • Hi Diane,

I hope you are well - how is you mother? Did she have this treatment?

My father in law was diagnosed 10 months ago... he had 2 treatments, neither of which worked and he has today started Lonsurf so looking for other experiences with it...thank you

  • Hi Debrada,

I'm afraid I can't help you as my mum decided not to take the treatment therefore I have no experience of Lonsurf. I really hope it helps your dad.

    Best wishes,

    Diane
