I am 59 years old, post menopausal, living in Devon and was diagnosed with probable embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma following a full hysterectomy in January 2025 to remove a Teratoma which unfortunately ruptured during surgery.
following 9 rounds of IVA chemo - 48hrs in hospital every 3 weeks- I have enjoyed 4 months recovery while they decide what to do next! The Royal Marsden have offered a -2nd opinion and consequently, I start 23 days of radiotherapy on 29th Dec to sacrum and retroperitoneal nodes and then will be on oral maintenance chemo for 12 months.
currently feeling great have continued with Pilates throughout treatment and am now back walking anything up to 11 miles a day despite peripheral neuropathy, BUT boy do I have a new vocabulary!
Hi Happuch
As you know sarcoma's are rare, my wife's is Leiomyosarcoma but after two rounds of chemotherapy her's became stable and has been that way for over 10 years. Her cancer started they think with a fibroid but she also had pyometra and for her she suffered a womb rupture followed by emergency hysterectomy.
As sarcoma is rare there are a number of specialist centres, we are lucky to live quite close to Oxford and were treated there, the Royal Marsden is a very well respected centre too.
Glad to hear you are keeping well too, my wife also enjoys walking perhaps even more so than I do.
<<hugs>>
Steve
