Hi all, I was diagnosed in 2014 with Retroperitoneal Liposarcoma. The Beast as I call it (due to its size) was removed with surgery along with my left kidney and part of my bowel. Then in 2018 I had a reoccurrence, once again it was removed with surgery taking a bit more bowel and small part of pancreas. Yet again The Beast is back! It's doubled in size in 6 months and attached to my bowel and pancreas yet again. My surgeon has now said that surgery is not an option because of the bowel. Doxorubicin is standard chemo for my type if tumour but it may not respond so they are starting me on a trial 5 cycle trial drug first. I've got my pre assessment appointment on 10th October to see if I'm compatible. If not it will be straight to chemo. I'm still trying to process it all at the mo and get my head around the fact that I'm feeling well and their going to give me drugs with a long list of possible side affects, including hair loss that will make me unwell! Anyway that's me so far, sorry its so long winded. Just wondered if anyone has had similar experience.

  • Hi, I have a recurrence of my retroperitoneal liposarcoma but mine is untreatable. I haven't been offered chemo as it doesn't work on my type, well differentiated. I guess we are all different. So I can't offer any words of wisdom but I do send you my best wishes xxxx

Hi, mine is advanced dedifferenciated, my consultant has always said its low grade and slow growing so I feel lucky about that. I wish you luck and best wishes in your journey xxx

Hi Daisy sorry to hear about the recurrence. I wondered the name of the trial drug that they are trying for you? I had doxirubicin x3. I had stability with this. Wishing you all the best x

  • Good luck with the trial, keep us up to date! Sparky xxx

Hi Annie,  the trial is called Brightline-1. They are looking to find a new first-line treatment as an alternative to Doxorubicin as DDLPS isn't always responsive. So fingers crossed. Glad yours has stability. Wishing you all the best also x
