Last week My GP called me in to tell me the results of the bloods I'd had taken a couple of days earlier. She told me that I had blood cancer. I told her that I have been here twice before and I don't have myloma. I have non alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver and had an appointment with my hepatologist last Friday and she arranged for me to have further blood tests and a urine test. The urine test is a Bence Jones which will prove either way if I do have myloma. In the afternoon I saw my gynaecologist who did a pelvic exam and everything was okay. Apparently I'll have it done every 3 months. Deep joy! I had a CT scan two weeks ago and will see my sarcoma consultant on Tuesday. I'm lucky because my ulms was 1a with lymphovascular space invasion but I'm seriously sick of the constant appointments.
Sorry for the moany post.
Hi Deborino
Sorry to hear about everything you have been going through, it does take me back to the very early days of my wife's cancer journey where the doctors were still trying to work out what she had - passed from pillar to post in the hospital and the least I say of her experiences with the gynaecologist perhaps the better.
Hope the appointment with the sarcoma consultant went ok. The big plus in our community is sometimes we all know having a moan is part of our slightly unnatural life. In a work context we tend to recognize it as venting and it certainly is better than the subsequent explosion.
<<hugs>>
Steve
Hi Steve, I've not been on the forum for a while as things have been a bit hectic. My mum moved into a care home 10 days ago which has been very emotional for both of us. I have had two texts from my GP asking for a urine sample as there was protein in my test for myloma. I've also got to see the GP to discuss what the sarcoma team has written to them about. The good news was in that I don't need to go back to Christie's for 3 months. I've previously had to attend every 3 weeks. My hepatologist had bloods and a urine test booked for me to check for myloma and I haven't heard anything since so I'm seeing that as good thing.
