Hi all, I really hope you’re all doing well
I am hoping to speak with someone in a similar situation, my mother was diagnosed 3 years ago with a rare and aggressive type of melanoma and within the past month it’s unfortunately spread even after her operations and care and she is now at stage 4 with it now having lesions on her lungs, liver and spine. She’s is now ongoing treatment.
she struggles greatly with pain and I want nothing more then to help her, I help clean her house and look after her when I can. If anyone is going through something similar I would love to talk as I feel so alone knowing my mum who is my best friend is going through this and I’m not able to control it or cure it. I have some amazing friends around me, helping me through this however it would be nice to be able to relate to someone, get advice or even just have someone to cry too
Hi Charlie011 and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community, and although I've had melanoma, it wasn't the same type as your mum's.
As you've found, the online community is divided into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join the vulva cancer group as you'll then connect directly with others who have the same type of cancer as your mum.
To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
It would be great if you could put something about your mum's diagnosis and proposed treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Sending virtual ((hugs))
Thank you so much for your help! I am still trying to use this properly and really appreciate your help. I really hope you have a blessed day
