Recurring BCC

Hello, Ive just joined the group as I have problems with recurring BCC.

Was first diagnosed with superficial BCC over 5 years ago on my temple.   I have had 4 sessions of photo dynamic therapy, one treatment of immunotherapy cream and subsequently developed a nodular BCC on the same site.  This was removed by MOH's surgery a year and half ago.  Sadly symptoms reappeared together with a new Bcc on my face.  These were treated with Mohs surgery on July this year.  By all accounts it is highly unusual to have mohs surgery twice on the same site within a year and a half.

I am feeling extremely concerned as symptoms have reappeared on the left temple again and have an appointment with dermatologist  in a couple of weeks. Does anyone know how this might be treated?  Will I have to undergo further surgery or are there other options?  I know the consultant will offer options when I see her but I would to go the appointment with some knowledge of what to expect.

Hope to hear from anyone who has experience of recurring BCC or able to help in any way.

Many thanks.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to our little area of the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community, and although I haven't had recurring BCC I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.

While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and previous treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
