Hi there Ive had a lentigo maligna cut out of my right cheek by a plastic surgeon and was advised to use Aldara to clear the margins. After 3 weeks of nightly Aldara application broken reddened skin and some large black scabs appeared. I also felt weak and weepy which I initially thought was due to low iron but that was checked at 13.8 so fine but I was alarmed at the size of the black scabs and so have stopped use of Aldara. the scabs have eventually fallen off. Does anyone have experience using Aldara?

If anyone has used Aldara; what other products did you use or were advised to use say, a moisturizer in the mornings when you had washed off the Aldara? I was told by my Dermatologist to use Aldara for 3 months. I guess I may have to try again to make absolutely sure. Apparently it can affect some folk internally ie make one feel a bit weak/ tired. i was advised to use Aphoria Eucerin as a moisturiser which I only started using after I stopped the Aldara.  I would appreciate your feedback on this. regards from Cape Town.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I don't have any personal experience with using Aldara but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. I've searched the group and found these previous posts for you to have a look through.

It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and proposed treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
