I have recently been given Aldara cream by my dermatologist to use for a couple of superficial bccs on my nose.  Can anyone tell me how long after finishing cream does your skin go back to normal? I have two weddings to attend in early June.

  • Hi Valsiann

Just wondering if you have finished your Aldara treatment now?  How are you feeling?

    Hoping you are feeling better.

  • Hi Dees

I am fine. Just finished treatment and nose is improving, Feels like cardboard at the moment but not so red and sore anymore. I know we are all different but I have found the last three weeks easier than the first three. Like you I was quite apprehensive at the start of this treatment and I did have two days break after the third week. I saw the dermatologist last week but he said appointment was too soon (not my fault) and I need another in a few weeks. I have had a few systemic side effects the last ten days i.e. tiredness, lack of appetite and a bit of an upset tum but hopefully things will now go back to normal. Feeling quite euphoric now I have finished and bought myself a wide brimmed cap and sunscreen ready to tackle my garden. Please continue to post, I will follow your story

  • Hi Valsiann

Thank you for replying to my post.

So glad to hear that you have finished the treatment and your nose is improving.  Great to hear, too, that you found the last 3 weeks easier that the first 3 weeks.  I am starting my treatment on Monday week so getting a bit more nervous as the time approaches!

Best wishes to you - enjoy your gardening!

  • I in the middle of a 6 week course of aldara and look scabby all over my nose lips and above my mouth and still 3 weeks left /to even go out of the house I am having to wear masks as look a nightmare

  • Hi Suzy

So sorry to hear you are struggling with your Aldara course. I actually had a break of a week when my nose and lip were so sore and then did the last 2 weeks.  Once you finish the six weeks, it doesn't take very long before you look "normal" again. At least you know it is doing what it is meant to do.

Hope you feel better soon and the last weeks fly by for you.
