I would really value any guidance anyone can give to me on Squamous cell carcinoma stage 2. Plan is for surgery and then possible radiotherapy- can anyone help or share with me any personal experiences ?
thanks so much in advance
Hi Bridie. Sorry to read your comments. Unfortunately I can't help on squarmous cell. I have had 2 basal cell csncers removed from my face, by skin flap and skin graft. I was told I was too young (73) for radiotherapy Where abouts are your cancers and how long have you had them xx
Hi birdie
Same as Harlyn. I've had a basal cell removed from my nose but not a squamous cell cancer.
There's a lot on here though that have had squamous cell removed so hopefully they'll get in contact.
I have a friend who had a squamous cell cancer removed from his ear. It was substantial surgery as it had grown quickly but six weeks later You couldn't tell that he'd had surgery. He didn't have radiotherapy though.
Whereabouts is your squamous cell?
Hi Bridie1234 and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I don't have any experience with squamous cell carcinoma but have found these posts from people who do. You could have a read through some of them and reply to any of the posters if you wanted to ask any questions about their experiences.
It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

Hi Bridie - I had a squamous cell carcinoma removed last September/ October time by surgery. The carcinoma was 0.7mm on my forehead. In the end, I needed two minor operations to remove it. I got the all clear from the biopsy in early November.
I can't speak to radiotherapy, because I never got to that point as the surgery dealt with the cancer. As far as the surgeries go - neither of them hurt at all whilst they were actually happening! I honestly think having a tooth removed at the dentist is worse. The first one took about 30 minutes, and the second one about 45 mins. It took me about 2 days to fully recover from the first one, the second operation - because they had to go deeper, needed stitches and removed more tissue down to the one - took me about 7 days.
I was anxious, both about the diagnosis and the surgery. I certainly used the McMillian hotline to help me understand the diagnosis and that was really helpful, particularly the ability to talk to a nurse.
Was there anything specific you wanted to know about my experience of the squamous cell surgery? I'm happy to go through in detail if it will help.
