I’m 82 yrs old have had Melanoma 3 yrs ago, all fine now, have had the last of my CT scans. I have actinic keratosis mainly on my upper chest area, it’s not crusty there at all, but lots of pink patches are very tender, sore & bleed easily, have had these for a couple of years.
Consultant seems unsure about them & suggest they do a biopsy, is there really any point in doing this ? I’m not worried but would like to get rid of the tenderness, any thoughts ?
I do have a few typical brown crusty patches on my face around my hairline which are more obviously keratosis patches, but they don’t bother me.

Hi RoC
I'm sorry to read about the tender areas you have on your chest, which sound very uncomfortable.
As you know, none of us here can advise you what to do, as it's against the community guidelines, but having had melanoma myself, if my consultant wanted to biopsy areas that they were concerned about then I would be guided by them.
Best wishes with whatever you decide to do

Thanks, it is booked anyway, the skin is so thin there , not sure how they’ll do it.

Hi, I do use Aloe Vera for my psoriasis but haven’t tried it on these patches, maybe I’ll give it a try, thanks.
