After my first op I used a silicone scar treatment cream - kelocote. I got the one with SPF 30. It's supposed to form a silicone layer over the scar and to help it disappear. I never felt that it really dried on properly, as they talked about peeling it of at the end of the day but I did feel a bit protected by it. I put loads of factor 50 and make up on top! You can buy silicone sheets too which might be good depending on where your op was. I got it from Amazon,£25 for a little tube, but it has lasted a long time. I use a tinted factor 50 - Ultrasun. It's all costing me a fortune!
Thank you Woodsider that's a big help and I'll see about getting some.
Its on the side of my nose so very visible and as it healed by secondary intention it's a bit hypertrophic.
How are your scars now?
Healing up quite fast but a bit of a mess - the end of my nose is quite bumpy and a strange shape! I'm trying not too examine it too much. I'm going out more and not feeling so self conscious, but I wouldn't be winning any beauty contests!
It's not easy is it?
My scar has healed bumpy and red. For both of us though it's early days.
I have a slightly larger nostril on the right side so my nose is a bit out of shape.
I see the surgeon next week but I don't think he'll suggest anything.
I'm also out and about. As difficult as it is were not defined by our scars are we?
Have you got the all clear now?
